According to the 2000 Census, 13 percent of Minnesota’s foreign born residents are from Africa—a higher percentage than in any other US state. Through workshops and consultations on financial literacy, business development, and homeownership, the African Development Center (ADC) is helping these communities build wealth and achieve economic success.
Since 2003, ADC has helped grow businesses, build wealth, and increase reinvestment in the African communities of Minnesota. ADC is a leader in micro-lending to small businesses, and has partnered with Meda to secure financing for a number of African immigrant entrepreneurs.
ADC is a key partner in the Minority Business Development Cohort, which launched this year under the leadership of ADC’s Nasibu Sareva and six other CEOs and Executive Directors from Minnesota’s minority development space. The Minority Business Development Cohort aims to foster increased alignment, synergy, and resources for Minnesota’s minority business development sector to increase our collective impact.
