Robert Ryan, retired CFO of Medtronic, was recruited by his wife and her group of the “Girlfriends” to assist Estes Funeral Home after founder Richard Estes passed away. His wife, April Estes, inherited the business from her husband. Mrs. Estes is a retired nurse and had not been involved with the business over the 51 years that Richard ran it successfully. When Robert started volunteering to help Estes he turned to Meda in providing a loan so Estes could make some new business decisions moving forward. Robert has worked behind the scenes to help the family restructure. Robert utilized his network to bring in other professionals to make sure every aspect of the business was moving forward with the latest technology and systems. As Robert was working with them, Hennepin County came to Estes to ask them if they would consider moving across the street, so the Northpoint Health and Wellness could expand. Robert led the effort with Meda and the family to negotiate and plan with Hennepin County to build a new facility across the street. He located the top professionals to make sure the new Estes Funeral Chapel will be the most state-of-the-art facility. The new chapel opens up September of 2018 so Robert is still giving many hours weekly to this project. We thank him for his expertise and most importantly the amazing amount of time he has put into this project.
