Gary Cunningham is CEO of Meda, the Metropolitan Economic Development Association. He says the money will fund early stage high growth potential businesses without saddling them with burdensome debt payments .
GARY CUNNINGHAM: “While a million dollars in today’s economy doesn’t sound like a lot, for minority owners million dollars being invested in them means a lot and so we’re trying to grow our capital fund so that we can grow these businesses and change the trajectory for the minority community through an economic participation.”
KEVIN PLUMBER: “The funding comes from the Opportunity Finance Network which awards money to organizations with a proven track record and low income in communities of color.”
