Job Summary:

The Corporate Communications & Grant Writer (CCGW) is part of the Advancement team and coordinates closely with Executive Leadership across the enterprise for communications and grant writing.

The CCGW will transform and advance our corporate narrative, both internally and externally. They are working hand in hand with Marketing, Executive Leadership, and fellow staff members to develop and implement internal and external communications to engage audiences including staff, corporate partners, nonprofit agencies, and the community (email, intranet, print materials, and presentation).

 The CCGW is responsible for researching the funding priorities of a broad range of grant-making agencies and influencing fundraising strategies and programming outcomes. They will write and submit letters of interest, write, and submit grant applications, fulfill reporting requirements, and meet all deadlines.


Essential Functions:

Grant Management

  • Work with the VP of Advancement to set revenue goals and identify fundable projects.

  • Develop a month-by-month donor plan to meet/exceed annual goals.

  • Research new grant opportunities, ensuring funding priorities align with those of MEDA.

  • Write, prepare, and submit letters of inquiry and proposals for foundations, corporations, and government-funded opportunities.

  • Manage grant applications and provide supporting materials as needed.

  • Writes grant/funding proposals in a timely manner, securing technical assistance and collaborating with teams of content matter experts to develop/review proposal drafts

  • Serves as liaison with staff/managers in researching and compiling data, narrative, and financial information necessary for grant applications

  • Ensures compliance by grant teams with Go/No-Go process

  • Maintains grants calendar including proposal deadlines and forecasting

Data Management and Reporting

  • Comply with database standards to ensure accurate records.

  • Keep submitted proposals and related documents organized and accurate.

  • Advise and participate in grant fulfillment and evaluation tasks. Work with the programming teams to ensure all reporting guidelines are met.

  • Track progress on grant-funded activities and prepare reports.

Communications

  • Work closely with management to support senior staff by writing speeches, offering guidance, and planning strategies to implement responses to issues that affect the company, its employees, and its standing in the community and industry.

  • Work closely with the CEO and the executive and marketing teams on building our company narrative.

  • Write and edit website blogs/new stories.

  • Develop content for various venues—presentations, talking points, videos, podcasts.

  • Monitor corporate communication email boxes and manage responses.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 ·      Grants Writing

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or English.

  • 3 years of Grant Writing; 2 years-Writing in a Corporate Communications role.

  • Experience with funder cultivation strategies and grant management.

  • Ability to strategically position grant projects within existing programs.

  • Established relationships with funders and knowledge of the Minnesota corporate, government, and foundation funders.

  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and tight deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills, project management skills, and time management skills.

  • Proven success in winning government and/or private philanthropic grant awards and/or strong fundraising and development experience

  • Strong research, analytical, and verbal/written communication abilities

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Google Docs, and fundraising databases.

Salary Range $60,000-$73,000 DOE
