“When MEDA clients succeed, Minnesota wins. While these challenging times affect us all, our commitment remains unwavering: to empower entrepreneurs with the resources, support and opportunities they need to succeed and drive lasting economic impact.”

I had the honor of addressing our community at MEDA’s Annual Meeting. While these gatherings are always meaningful, this year felt different. It was an afternoon of hope—filled with truth, solidarity, and collective resolve amid extreme uncertainty.

We came together—BIPOC entrepreneurs, community leaders, and changemakers—to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the strength of MEDA’s community. Together, we confronted the challenges before us and stood united in the belief that we are the solution.

Economic instability, deepening inequities, and rising division impact us all—but they hit underserved communities the hardest. And yet, in that room, there was no fear—only resolve. Entrepreneurs of color continue to stand strong. Building. Persisting. Leading. Their courage in the face of adversity is nothing short of extraordinary—and it must be met with bold, collective action.

For 53 years, MEDA has supported over 25,000 underserved businesses—providing capital, consulting, and connections to empower their success. Now, it’s up to all of us to meet the moment and ensure that the progress made over the past five decades is not reversed.

My message is clear: “When MEDA clients succeed, Minnesota wins. While these challenging times affect us all, our commitment remains unwavering: to empower entrepreneurs with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed and drive lasting economic impact.”

I’m calling on all of you—leaders, allies, and community members—to stand with us. Invest in this work. Show up for BIPOC entrepreneurs.

Join us in “Empowering Potential. Elevating Success.”

Change isn’t coming—we are the change.
