Job Summary:
We are looking to grow and want a strong leader with business development skills to spearhead the bank’s growth efforts with BIPOC Entrepreneurs. The VP of lending will develop and maintain strong relationships with COIs, existing member networks, community leaders, and other partners. Analyze and evaluate loan applications and make appropriate recommendations regarding product offerings, loan structuring, pricing, and approval. Participate in overall credit/risk management, portfolio management, and servicing of assigned portfolios. Ensures compliance with lending policies and procedures. They will coordinate efforts with our Consulting Services, Advancement, and MEDA’s Executive Leadership Team.
Essential Functions:
Organization
Develop and drive lending and client strategies to achieve desired community impact.
Manage all aspects of the client services and lending portfolio, including loan quality, loan portfolio mix, commercial loan underwriting, and structuring and pricing of Meda services.
Provide direction in developing service lines as part of an overall growth strategy.
Set annual departmental goals in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team.
Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Serve as the staff liaison with the Loan Policy Committee of the Board of Directors.
Presides over meetings of the Loan Committee and recommends loans to be charged off or restructured. Serves on Management Loan Committee.
Serves as the Senior Credit Officer for MEDA. Authorizes actions to be taken in Meda’s involvement in legal matters and actions and regularly reports to the President.
Department
· Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to Meda staff to ensure thorough understanding and adherence.
· Develop metrics for lending to track progress against individual goals and operating budget.
· Oversee and implement consistent policies, procedures, and internal controls that follow rules and regulations required by a non-regulated CDFI.
· Provide leadership and coaching to both direct and indirect reports, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Evaluate loan application documents to analyze, interpret and evaluate financial information and business plans to assess borrower capacity, cash flows, character, collateral, and conditions.
Work with ELT to implement appropriate marketing, business development, and sales activities.
Serves as Financial Counselor and acts as a mentor for other financial counselors.
Client & Community Engagement
Ensures client needs are consistently met in a professional manner by the lending team.
Develop core COI relationships and pursue business leads from COIs, existing member networks, community leaders, and other partners.
Make sales relationship calls to existing and potential bank partners to retain current business and to develop new business loans and deposit services.
Actively participates in community organizations in a manner that reflects favorably on Meda.
Encourages staff participation in community activities to enhance company diversity.
Communicate and live MEDA’s core purpose and values which drive our organizational culture

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Five years of experience working with Community Financial Development Institutions or small business lending with progressive responsibility within a financial organization.
Successful history of business development and relationship management.
Strong credit, structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management skills.
Knowledge of and experience with NMTC structures, structuring loans through government programs, mergers and acquisitions, public finance, and other CDFI Fund programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret industry journals and reports.
Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients or vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Proven ability to present information to groups or individuals in a confident and professional manner.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and LinkedIn, is preferred.
Superior human relations skills. Ability to work effectively under deadlines and pressure. Self-motivated, ability to work consistently and productively under minimal supervision.
Promotes harmony and employee goodwill.
Conducts lending and compliance-related training programs as needed and assists the department in developing related procedures and training materials.
Experience in managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
Preferred:
MBA degree.
Experience with commercial real estate and commercial lending including loan participation and co-lending with other banks.
Seven or more years Lending related experience in a senior management position (preferably consumer, commercial, and mortgage lending); or equivalent combination of education and or equivalent combination of education and credit union or financial services experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
This job operates in an office setting and is primarily a sedentary role. Travel is primarily local; however, some overnight travel may be expected. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Salary Range $113,000-$130,000 DOE
