Congratulations to Ron Kelner, MEDA’s Volunteer of the Year! Ron is pictured here with Alivia Boddie, VAN Program Manager, at MEDA’s Volunteer Appreciation event in April.
Volunteer of the Year
We are proud to recognize Ron Kelner as our Volunteer of the Year! Ron has been a dedicated and instrumental mentor who has generously volunteered his time to support mentees in our Volunteer Accelerator Network Program (VAN) since its inception.
Ron has an accomplished career as a certified public accountant and has used his expertise to guide dozens of mentees through critical elements of building a financially sound business.
He said, “I met MEDA’s founding CEO John Stout more than 25 years ago and always wanted to get involved. I’ve been able to dedicate time to getting involved in the VAN program in my retirement.”
Ron’s time has made a tremendous impact. He has empowered dozens of mentees to build strong financial foundations that are necessary to launch and sustain successful small businesses. This includes helping business owners create clear profit and loss plans, which serve as critical roadmaps throughout the entrepreneurial journey.

Ron said, “Volunteering as a mentor for the VAN program has been an amazing learning experience for me. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from my mentees.”
This highlights the incredible value of the mentor and mentee relationship – both parties grow and develop new skills through shared experiences.
We are grateful for Ron’s commitment and thrilled to celebrate his impact on our community.
